Jahlil Okafor is the top center in the 2014 class. He is still a sophomore, but he has come a long way. He has grown up a lot and has become a lot leaner making his presence known in the post, rather than getting pushed and shoved around. This summer Jahlil won the MVP honors after winning the U-17 squad at the FIBA World Championships. On the U-17 USA team Jahlil averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds. In the championship game he scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Winning the MVP honors was not only a huge accomplishment, but also showed him that he has a bright future ahead of him. The last player who won the MVP was Bradley Beal, who was recently drafted by the Washington Wizards. Making him want to work that much harder to follow in the footsteps of great players and one day play in the NBA. Here is a clip of the young baller's dominance...
Jahlil has some of the best foot work for his size making it easy to score in the post, just like Jared Sullinger of the Boston Celtics. But this summer on the USA team he slimmed down quiet a bit. He became more athletic on the court, throwing down some thunderous tomahawks in some international play. But overall he has a lot of talent and skill, but he still has a lot of raw potential, which is great being the fact that he is only a sophomore in high school. His game speaks for itself, and he is the type of player that doesn't just rely on talent, but works hard all the time putting in 110%. So expect greatness! Everyone should look out for him next season and don't be surprised if you end up on his highlight reel if you play against him, you definitely won't be the first.
