2013 recruit, Julius Randle, has become one of the most coveted names this summer. With Jabari Parker being sidelined with a foot injury this summer, Julius Randle has become one of the most dominating forces in high school basketball. Looking at his highlight reel you know that if you are under the basket for too long, you will be dunked on. Standing 6'9 and weighing in at 235 he is one of the top alpha dogs in this recruiting class. In mock NBA drafts he is projected to go top three in the lottery. His NBA comparison is Chris Webber and I can see why.
As you can see both of these guys just dominated the game with their size and ability. It's amazing to watch how they dominate on defense and offense. Seeing Randle play defense is like watching a volleyball player spike a ball. He will sprint right behind you as you go for a lay up and just swat the ball into the crowd. In his junior year he averaged 21 points, eight rebounds, and two assists and led Prestonwood High School to the 5A State Championship scoring 26 points in the process. This summer he joined the USA Men's 2012 Men's FIBA American U18 Championship Team as they beat Brazil for the gold medal, leading the team with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Offensively his game right now mainly consists of dunking, but he has shown glimpses of a post game and his mid range shooting seems to be coming along. However he will have his senior year in high school to continue to perfect his game. Randle is ranked number one in his position and number three in his class. Some argue that he should be number one, but as of now Aaron Harrison and Jabari Parker are ahead of him. He has offers from Kentucky, UNC Chapel Hill, Kansas, Duke, Florida, and just about any other school in the nation. Coach John Calipari and Roy Williams have been working hard in the past couple days to recruit Randle. Overall, his competitive edge and hatred for losing is what will push Randle to continue to dominate the game.
