Andrew Wiggins The Next Super Star of Our Time?

Andrew Wiggins is the top prospect in the 2014 recruiting class, at 6'7 he is consider by most to be the best player in the country while only being a junior in high school. Earlier this year Jabari Parker of 2013 was considered the best player in the country since Lebron James, but Andrew Wiggins is just on another level compared to everyone else. Both players are long and athletic, and they can do just about anything on the court making them both of them the number one prospects in both of their classes.

This year Andrew Wiggins is trying to reclassify and skip a year and join the 2013 class at Huntington Prep. His top two college prospects that he is really looking at to attend Florida State and Kentucky. Kentucky is known for attracting elite high school players and sending them into the NBA draft the next year, but why Florida State? Well both of his parents played their college days at Florida State. Wiggins mother, Marita Payne-Wiggins, ran track and end up winning the silver medal in the Olympics for Canada in track and field later on in her career. His father, Mitchell Wiggins, played basketball and was drafted in the NBA first round 23rd pick in 1983. When you look at Andrew Wiggins, who is 6’7 and has a 6’11 wingspan, you can tell his genetics work in his favor.

This summer Andrew has put in hard work and it has paid off big time. When the USA U18 team took on the World Team Andrew dropped 20 points for the upset victory over USA U18. He is just gifted with God given talent and can at times just easily dominate the game without even breaking a sweat. He can slash to the rim, hit the mid range jumper, and will get any put back dunks with easy and authority. This summer Wiggins took on Julius Randle, currently the #1 prospect of 2013, and held him down to 15 points and 13 rebounds (which are not bad stats by any means), while Wiggins went off and had 28 points and 12 rebounds to win the game. It just shows that Wiggins can also be the best defensive player on the team, and the best offensive player at the same time.

Wiggins will be the ideal player to make a franchise player for any team in the NBA. He has talent, drive, the fundamentals, and he seems level headed, which coaches love! He has already been compared to NBA greats like Scottie Pippen, which is a huge comparison, but Wiggins is just on another level compare to everyone else. In he was to enter the 2013 class and then go into the NBA Draft he would be with other great players like; Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, but Wiggins would most likely go first. At the end of the day everyone needs to look out for Wiggins because he is making noise in the world of basketball. Check out his highlight reel if you need more proof of how good he is!
